China Social Work Project Fund
Keswick Foundation (KF) has been supporting the development of social work education in mainland China for over 20 years. The pioneer Master of Social Work (China) Programme, guided by professors from Hong Kong Polytechnic University with support from Peking University, trained over 230 social work educators scattering in different parts of China. Many graduates later became educators who lead social service development and train the younger generation of social workers to address social challenges.
To date, social work has become one of popular courses across universities. While these social work educators continue to be the pioneer in teaching and supervision in cities and rural areas, their experiences in undertaking research and practicum training tasks for the practice-oriented profession, remain limited.
Therefore, China Social Work Project Fund was set up in 2014 to further the capacity building efforts for social work educators as well as practitioners. With the support from the team of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Fund has conceived 25 social service projects with collaboration with local universities and social service agencies nation-wide. They support various vulnerable groups in under resourced communities across 17 provinces and 23 cities. Thus far, three rounds of China Social Work Project Fund has been launched.
